About the data
What this is, where the numbers come from, and how to cite them.
EconGE is an independent, open archive of Georgian economic statistics. It automatically collects the numbers that Georgia's official institutions publish — as spreadsheets scattered across their websites — and puts them in one place where they can be searched, charted, downloaded, and queried through an API. Nothing is edited or estimated here: every value is exactly what the original source published.
Where the numbers come from
Each dataset page names its source. Collection runs on a schedule — daily for exchange rates, weekly or monthly for the rest — and the "last updated" dates on the portal front page reflect the most recent successful collection per source.
How to cite
Cite the original source, with EconGE as the access point. For example:
Every dataset has a permanent link that survives archive rebuilds — safe to use in footnotes and shared documents. World Bank data is CC BY 4.0; GeoStat and NBG data are public with attribution; IMF data is free for non-commercial use.
Reading the numbers
Three things worth knowing. Index series (marked
"index" or "=100" in the title) are relative to a base of 100:
a value of 104.8 means +4.8% versus the base period — they are not
percentages. Projections: some international series
(notably the IMF's) include forecast years; the portal marks these
with a "proj." label, dashes them in charts, and flags them with an
is_projection column in
downloads. Dates: annual values are recorded on
January 1 of their year — "2025-01-01" means "the year 2025".
Who runs this
EconGE is built and maintained by Levan Alibegashvili, a data engineer in Tbilisi, as an independent public resource. It is not affiliated with any government body. Found a wrong number or a missing series? Say so — the archive gets better through exactly that kind of feedback.
